The CARE Health Leaders program is a 9-month program for residents of New Haven, Bridgeport, and Hartford (adults 18 and older). During workshop sessions, participants learn about health equity and neighborhood health, community-level health interventions, the social drivers of health, project planning, leadership development, and community organizing. Health Leaders then work together in small groups to develop a grassroots community project to address a health issue in their community. Past examples of projects include community gardens, health fairs, community conversations on health topics, mental health awareness events, community walks, and exercise programs.
